🦋 IC Information
Character Name: Wrathion
Age: Estimated at 15, but he's a dragon. Physically and mentally, he looks and acts somewhere in his 20's as a human, and is a drake, not a whelp, in dragon form.
Canon: World of Warcraft
Canon Point: Dragonflight, Patch 10.2.0, Guardians of the Dream.
Character History: Wrathion
Canon Abilities: First of all, he is a dragon. I'm just going to link the wiki entry to spare my fingers: Dragon. He's not an elder behemoth like an Aspect, but since he was not merely hatched, but created, Wrathion is a bit precocious as compared to another drake his age. Vampires, please note: buried in the wiki here, it says most creatures cannot tolerate ingesting dragon blood, save for crocolisks, a crocodile analogy on Azeroth, because their stomachs are plated internally and thus armored. (But hey, you can roll those dice if you like! I'm not your mom. Just let me know!)
Black dragons have power over earth and fire; their breath weapon is magma or fire. Their Visage form doesn't seem to be built for it, so that is restricted to dragon form only.
All dragons possess magic of some form. Again, black dragons seem to have the most affinity for earth and fire magic, in addition to their breath weapon's power.
As a rogue from Ravenholdt stole his egg from its prison in the Vermilion Redoubt, he spent time amongst them as a hatchling. His usual fighting style in human form reflects that--by Dungeons and Dragons terms, he'd be what's called an arcane trickster, a rogue that can also cast spells. This is likely because he's also a dragon, as rogues from Azeroth have no ability to cast spells.
Wrathion is an accomplished crafter, which may surprise some. His main abilities lie in tailoring and enchanting; considering reagents are harder to come by in Faerie, this may not do much for him! But he'll at least try to keep in practice.
Inventory: Succession, his saber. His actual clothing is a conjured appearance.
🦋 Personality
Option 2:
- Green
- Dead
- Pride
- Fall
- Child
The color of life and living things--the color of Azeroth's forests and lush farmlands. The color of the Green Dragonflight, the protectors of the Emerald Dream. Wrathion has not had the oppositional relationship with Ysera's dragonflight that he had with the Red Dragonflight of her sister, Alexstrasza, but he kept his distance due to not quite trusting the Dreamer. However, he readily lent his aid to her daughter Merithra in defense of both the Emerald Dream and the new world-tree, Amirdrassil, as it first bloomed in Azeroth.
In the interest of protecting Azeroth, Wrathion...made a lot of his flight members dead. The ones that were not hidden elsewhere (like Sabellian in Outland with the Obsidian Brood, and Ebyssian in Highmountain, deep in the Broken Isles) had been corrupted by the Old Gods, and were no longer beings who held up the Titans' charge to protect the earth. Instead, they were monsters, bent on wreaking havoc and destruction to the world. He was only a whelp at the time, but Wrathion recruited a rogue champion, setting them to the task of eliminating the corrupt black dragons--removing the threat by making them all dead.
Oh, pride is something Wrathion possesses in spades. Not just because he's a dragon, though all dragons are proud. If a dragon could be called a self-made man, Wrathion is one. The Black Dragonflight were disregarded after the fall of their Aspect, Deathwing, as a group of maddened beasts, hellbent on destroying the world. Not only did Wrathion work on excising that stain, he aspired to become the new Aspect of Earth. There were revelations when he and his brothers Sabellian and Ebyssian entered Zaralek Caverns, though he and Sabellian were deep in competition for the post by then. What they discovered in Aberrus, their father's abandoned laboratory, had both of them abandoning that idea and naming Ebyssian the new Earth-Warder. That, too, is something Wrathion is proud of.
Wrathion spent most of his life making up for the fact that the dragon he views as his father, Deathwing, fell to the corrupting influence of the Old Gods. Deathwing went from the Earth-Warder to the Destroyer. Wrathion's first taste of his 'father's' dark influence came when Deathwing attempted to kill him by obliterating his egg. That failed, and Wrathion managed to scheme and end Deathwing. Then, he set his sights on the Old Gods, offering the heroes of Azeroth a heroes' ransom to defeat the last remaining Old God, N'zoth. The infuriated Old God even snarls at Wrathion at one point: "Insolent whelpling! You desecrate that which you were bred to serve!" But Wrathion had already realized that he was supposed to fall as well, and he had fought fang and claw against it every step of the way, coming out triumphant in the end.
Or, perhaps more accurately in this case, hatchling. He may have had the form of one, but dragons are conscious in the shell--Wrathion was well aware of what was going on outside of that safety. Not that it ended up truly safe; through the efforts of the Red Dragonflight, he was made into an experiment. He is the answer to the question "could one of Deathwing's brood be purified?" A titan device, a black dragon egg, the corpse of a whelp--all these were combined, and what was produced in the end was Wrathion. He's defied the directive of the reds; that he be imprisoned under their control and manipulated. He's defied the expectations of most of the world--that he'll end up corrupted like the rest of his flight was, before he cleansed it by fire. Wrathion will be damned before he decides to meekly become what someone else dictates he be.
